Madeline Merwin, MD

Class of 2028

Hometown: Clarksburg, CA

Why ObGyn: After family members needing kind, dedicated OBGYN providers themselves, I wanted to be the surgeon and physician caring for others' family members, just as my family needed. This specialty is the perfect blend of vital advocacy, patient continuity, diverse backgrounds and needs, medical and surgical complexity, inpatient and outpatient, and wonderful people. It is a gift to be a part of patients' highest joys and lowest challenges.

Why UCSF: UCSF sparked a joy and sense of belonging in me from the beginning with our shared values and mission for underserved populations, anti-racism work, gender affirming practice, robust reproductive health training, expansive and empathetic clinical care, and a group of invigorated physicians working together! I have found this to play out when lucky enough to join this group, and it is a dream to be in SF, closer to my family, and show up to work with my beloved, incredible coresidents, learning from our patients and faculty.
