Why ObGyn: I chose OBGYN because it allows me to support and advocate for patients through nearly every stage of their lives. As a South Asian woman, I am keenly aware of how culture shapes one’s sense of self – I am excited to meet my patients where they are while working to improve both their health and the systems that serve them. I also love that the specialty combines longitudinal care, procedures, and surgery! In this way, OBGYN is the embodiment of person-centered care.
Why UCSF: Growing up I the Bay Area, I have always admired UCSF for its commitment to clinical excellence and research. My interview day only reinforced that admiration, as I had the privilege of speaking with kind, compassionate, and thoughtful clinicians whose passion for patient care and education was evident. I felt feeling that if I trained here, I would become not only an excellent physician, but also one who could change the systems around me for the better.
