Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Gynecologic Surgery

These faculty have expertise in the care of both pregnant and non-pregnant women. Services include preconception counseling, care throughout pregnancy and postpartum, surgical and non-surgical management of gynecologic problems, contraception, and routine gynecologic care.

Our gynecologic surgeons offer surgical and non-surgical management of benign gynecologic conditions including uterine fibroids, abnormal uterine bleeding, and ovarian cysts. All of our surgeons strive to provide surgical approaches through tiny incisions on your abdomen and/or vaginal incisions that allow most women to return to their daily activities in less time and with less discomfort than with traditional surgery. Uterine-sparing surgeries as well as office-based procedures are offered.

Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospitalist Program

Our academic hospitalist program strives to be a national leader in maternal safety and the experience of care by providing evidence-based, socially-conscious inpatient obstetric and gynecologic services. Our second goal is to be a flagship center for training the future leaders in hospital medicine through our fellowship program. We work collaboratively with the CNMs, generalists and MFMs to provide clinical support 24/7, ensuring the highest quality care and best outcomes for our hospitalized patients. We are also strongly vested in the education of learners at all levels with real-time bedside teaching, formal didactics and informal teaching during handoff rounds.

Our program was implemented at Mission Bay Hospital in April 2019 and the team consists of experienced Board Certified OB/GYNs. Each hospitalist has a primary clinical practice in hospital medicine with expertise in obstetric and gynecologic emergencies. In addition to direct patient care, hospitalists are actively involved in the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives, research projects and serve on various hospital-based patient safety committees.
