Two From UCSF ObGyn & RS Amongst CTSI Catalyst Award Winners
CTSI Catalyst Awards Expand Focus to Digital Health, Therapeutics, Diagnostics and Devices
Two faculty members of our department received Fall 2012 Cycle Catalyst Awards from the UCSF Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI). Drs. Naomi Stotland and Leslie Subak were among twenty award recipients in ten groups. The Catalyst Awards combine funding with customized expert feedback and advice. The awards focus on the development of four areas: therapeutics, diagnostics, devices, and now also digital health.
Naomi Stotland, MD, MPH, UCSF associate professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at San Francisco General Hospital received her award for "Pregnancy Weight Gain Coach – A Smartphone App", which focused on incorporating the latest behavioral and epidemiologic research maintain healthy weight gain during pregnancy.
Leslee Subak, MD, professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and practitioner at the UCSF Medical Center and the San Francisco VA Medical Center received her award for "Novel mHealth App (TakeControl) and Embedded Platforms (wearable devices) for Urinary Incontinence Treatment and Research", involving novel mHealth applications and embedded platforms (wearable devices) to treat and research urinary incontinence.
