ABOUT ME

My passion for reproductive health was ignited as an undergraduate student at the University of Michigan. I learned about women’s health and reproductive justice in my Women’s Studies classes and I saw the real-world manifestation of these issues through my work with various reproductive justice organizations. It was during these formative years that I also began to appreciate how the issues surrounding reproductive justice are intimately tied to larger, societal problems like racial/ethnic disparities and unequal educational opportunities. I often think of access to reproductive healthcare (or lack thereof) as a barometer of how we are doing as a society at large.

Besides the two years that I spent after undergrad in New Jersey with the Teach For America program, I have lived in Michigan for my entire life. It was a challenging decision to leave the fabulous faculty and my outstanding mentors at the University of Michigan Medical School, but I knew that it was time to branch out and see a different model of healthcare. I am beyond excited and feel immensely privileged to be training at the UCSF Medical Center for my residency in OB/GYN. I am looking forward to continuing my work within the reproductive justice movement and focusing my efforts toward care for underserved populations. My friends and family are all convinced that I will never return to the Midwest once I get a taste of life out in California. Only time will tell if their predictions are correct!
