Research/Clinical Interests

Dr. Hawkins is a full-scope generalist, with a focus on expanding care for transgender and gender nonbinary people. Dr Hawkins' research explores the effects of gender-affirming hormone therapy on sexual and reproductive health. She also studies decision making by patients and health care providers with regard to gender-affirming medical and surgical treatments. She has lectured extensively on the care of transgender and gender nonbinary people, is a member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health and an editorial reviewer for the International Journal of Transgender Health.
