Nurse Midwifery at SFGH

UCSF Health Midwives: Full Clinical Partners

The midwifery practice in the Maternal Fetal-Medicine division and UCSF Health is a fully integrated clinical partner with our MFM/Obstetrics clinicians caring for a range of obstetrical patients. We are a collaborative practice. This means that a woman who has a complicated pregnancy can receive MFM care and and get midwifery services throughout her labor and delivery.

At UCSF Health, MFM Certified Nurse-Midwives are attending providers with academic appointments as professors in the School of Medicine. CNMs supervise residents and medical students. Midwives based in the MFM division are involved not only in CenteringPregnancy programs and lactation services, but teaching in the medical school, resident education and departmental research.

Collaboration and full integration of obstetrics services are key elements in CNM work at UCSF.
