Our mission at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Obstetrics and Gynecology division is to promote justice, quality, and equity in women's health care. We seek to eliminate barriers to good health for women in San Francisco and around the world.

We believe this objective is best achieved by:

  • providing exemplary patient care to all women, especially those who are poor and vulnerable;
  • training and inspiring the next generation of reproductive health leaders;
  • improving policy and practice through research and scholarship.

“Excellence in the setting of diversity” describes the obstetrical and gynecological services at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital (ZSFG). Located in the heart of the Mission District, our medical providers and staff are dedicated and experienced professionals with a long history of providing competent and compassionate care to a diverse group of women and their families.

The ZSFG division has 40 full time faculty including doctors, nurse-midwives and doctorate faculty in a variety of fields.

Multidisciplinary collaboration is key to the success of our division's research and training arm, The Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health. The Bixby Center at UCSF is comprised of anthropologists, demographers, epidemiologists, family practitioners, gynecologists, midwives, psychologists, sociologists and statisticians. Their interactive, collaborative approach to promoting reproductive health worldwide significantly improved women's health on a global scale.
