Dr. Roxanna Irani Interim Ambulatory Executive Medical Co-Director for Women's Health

The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences is pleased to announce that Dr. Roxanna Irani is serving as Interim Ambulatory Executive Medical Co-Director for Women’s Health with Dana Gossett.

Dr. Irani has proved an outstanding and capable leader. She joined our Department in the Fall of 2018 as an Assistant Professor in the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Division. Last year, she was named Medical Director of Outpatient Obstetrics at Mission Bay, and has been involved in numerous patient-experience and operational initiatives.

Prior to UCSF, Dr. Irani earned her medical degree from the University of Texas, completed a Residency at Drexel University where she earned Resident teaching and research awards, and a Fellowship at Yale University where she studied the use of a TNF-alpha inhibitor in the treatment of preeclampsia.

Dr. Irani also holds a PhD in Biochemistry, which focused on preeclampsia and immunologic changes in pregnancy; and she published a landmark Nature Medicine paper on the subject. Additionally, she was recently selected as an Academic Editor for PLOS ONE in their Maternal and Women's Health Division.

In her new position as Interim Ambulatory Executive Medical Co-Director for Women’s Health she hopes to streamline patient access and care across the Department while promoting equity, standardization of practices, and our safety and quality measures.
