Research/Clinical Interests
Dr. Illangasekare is a full-time assistant professor in the Department of OBGYN & RS and is primarily located at the UCSF Mission Bay Owens street clinic. Her inpatient activities include teaching and supervising a team of residents, interns and medical students in their care of Labor and Delivery patients (antepartum, intrapartum and post-partum); both ICU and non-ICU patients. Other inpatient activities include primary gynecology attending for patients undergoing both inpatient and outpatient gynecologic procedures and surgeries.
Dr. Illangasekare is the current co-director of the UCSF Labor and Delivery simulation program, which focuses on training labor and delivery staff on quality, safety and evidence-based patient care. Her non-clinical and research focus is in medical education and she spends the majority of her academic time teaching and mentoring and both medical students and residents.
Areas of interest include medical education, resident education, family planning, contraception, intimate partner violence, and surgical skills training.
