About Me

Why OBGYN?

OBGYN first captivated me through the various practice settings, but what solidified my interest was the observation that each patient I encountered came from positions of medical and/or political marginalization. Like many of these patients, my experience in healthcare and beyond is defined by the insecurity that my welfare is too often governed by individuals unlike me and, at times, adverse to me. So, in each of my patients’ vulnerable moments, I felt grateful that I could relate to and empower them in ways they had not experienced. I was motivated to join a field that zealously aligned with my commitment to serving marginalized patient populations.

Why UCSF?

UCSF was my dream residency program back when I was an undergraduate at UC Berkeley. It was always clear to me that diversity was a value that permeated every structure and decision internally at UCSF, and as a queer Brown woman, I was confident that my value would be embraced, and my voice elevated. At UCSF it was apparent that the residents were determined, and importantly, unafraid to stand up and speak up to make medicine more accessible and equitable for marginalized populations.

What do you like to do outside of work?

Outside of work I like to take my dog to new places with my partner, road trip, attend concerts and comedy shows, try new breweries, and travel to new places. I got into long distance running during my fourth year of medical school while applying for residency and ran my first marathon before starting at UCSF!
