About Me

I am a first-generation Mexican-American from Santa Ana, CA and the first in my family to become a physician. I was raised by a single mother of five children, and I believe that access to full spectrum reproductive and sexual healthcare is a fundamental right, and the key to nurturing healthy families and healthy communities. Coming to the realization that my family’s wellbeing and my dreams were all possible because my mother was healthy and empowered motivates me to take care of low-income, immigrant communities so that they may also lead their lives in ways that fulfill them.

Why UCSF?

UCSF has always been my dream residency program. My interest in reproductive and sexual health and how it is deeply intertwined with racism, classism, sexism and prejudice drives me to work to become the most informed advocate for communities who are marginalized, targeted and forgotten. It is my intention to become the most qualified OBGYN I can possibly be and use my skills to directly care for communities who need it most. I believe that UCSF will shape me into a strong physician leader. UCSF’s commitment to excellent patient care, diversity and inclusion, and justice is why I chose them. I will also add that everyone I have met from UCSF, within and outside the OBGYN department, has had a certain je ne sais quoi that I have always loved and admired. It is an honor to officially become a part of what UCSF stands for.

Outside of work I enjoy running outside (I love uphill running!), going on long day hikes, cooking & baking, flying home to SoCal to spend time with my family, and doing crossword puzzles with my partner.
