About Me

Why OB/GYN?

OBGYN provides the continuity of care with patients, medical complexity, surgical expertise, intricacy of public policy and advocacy, and inspirational colleagues that fuel my passion for this field. I initially found my drive for OBGYN while working as an anesthesia technician in college. I loved having the chance to see my own OBGYN operating, and I appreciated that my OBGYN was also my mother’s OBGYN, so she was caring for generations of women in my family. In this field, I have the opportunity to care for individual patients while advocating for reproductive justice and women’s health on a larger scale. I am particularly interested in individual and public health means for addressing disparities in Black maternal health.

Why UCSF?

I found UCSF as a second-year medical student while attending virtual residency open houses during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. I was immediately drawn to the diversity of the residents and faculty who called this program home and saw myself reflected in them. I also aligned with the program’s mission to achieve reproductive justice and address health inequities particularly impacting minoritized groups. When I completed a visiting sub-internship here, I knew this was where I wanted to train for residency. I am confident that this program will provide me the tools and support needed to incorporate medicine, research, social justice, and advocacy to best address the needs of women locally and globally. I continue to be energized by my co-residents and faculty who are so passionate about the work we do each day!

What I do outside of residency?

I enjoy spending time with my partner, family, and close friends (including my co-residents). We enjoy exploring the city together, recently taking on the 17-mile SF crosstown trail and finding new places to eat. You can find us grabbing brunch almost every weekend, especially if there will be french toast!
