Many of us in this department wear multiple hats, but our work is deeply interconnected. Advocacy isn’t something we do in addition to our clinical care and research. It’s at the heart of all we do.

Our Approach

The Department’s Advocacy Strategy Committee defines advocacy as: activities aimed to influence systems-level policies, norms, or practices that ultimately benefit patients and the community.

Monthly meetings and a weekly newsletter create accessible entry points for faculty, staff, and trainees to engage in advocacy beyond their formal roles. Through these touchpoints, the committee shares timely opportunities, elevates existing work, and fosters collaboration across the department.

  • Reproductive Freedom Week activities
  • Meetings with legislators to share clinical and research perspectives
  • Media engagement, including writing op-eds and contributing expert commentary
  • Community events, such as postcard-writing happy hours to support abortion providers

Real people. Real impact.

As a department we bring evidence to the front lines—translating research into action that advances patient care, informs education, shapes policy, protects rights, and improves lives. See Our Impact section in the navigation bar to learn how.
