ZSFG Midwifery

Midwives provide holistic prenatal care for low-risk pregnancies. We arrange for the patient to be cared for by the same midwives throughout their pregnancy. This helps ensure a safe delivery of their baby at the hospital. We are proud to provide full-time, hospital-based nurse midwifery service in San Francisco.

We offer 1:1 prenatal clinics at the San Francisco General Hospital and directly in our communities, including Mission Neighborhood Health Center, at both the Shotwell and Excelsior Clinic locations. 

In addition to our 1:1 clinics, our CNM team was the first on the West Coast to implement the Centering Pregnancy model. This model, which brings pregnant people together for group prenatal care and to build community, has been shown to support better outcomes. Today, we offer groups focused on Spanish-speaking patients in collaboration with the Mission Neighborhood Health Center (MNHC) and the Homeless Prenatal Program (HPP). We offer groups focused on Black-identified patients at SFGH.
